Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the French Embassy in Bahrain, members of the Alliance Française Bahrain, and invited guests gathered in Adliya to witness the official groundbreaking ceremony for the future headquarters of the Alliance Française Bahrain. The event marked a significant milestone in the long-standing cultural and educational partnership between Bahrain and France.
A New Chapter for Alliance Française Bahrain
The ceremony officially launched construction works for the new facility, which is set to become a modern centre dedicated to French language education, internationally recognised language certifications, and cultural exchange activities. The project reflects the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening educational and cultural ties.
Strengthening Bahraini-French Cultural Relations
Designed by French architect Pierre Sfeir, the new headquarters will provide contemporary facilities tailored to the needs of students, educators, and the wider community. The centre is expected to further enhance opportunities for learning the French language while promoting Francophone culture and intercultural dialogue within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Modern Facilities for Education and Culture
The project is funded by the Kingdom of Bahrain and has been developed and implemented by the Ministry of Works. Strategic oversight is being carried out through close cooperation between the Bahraini and French governments, together with the Board of Directors of Alliance Française Bahrain.
A Landmark Project in Adliya
Founded in 1969, Alliance Française Bahrain holds a special place in the region’s cultural landscape as the first Alliance Française established in the Gulf. For more than five decades, it has played an important role in promoting the French language, Francophone cultures, and cultural understanding between France and Bahrain. The new headquarters is expected to further expand its educational and cultural mission for future generations.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by diplomats, government officials, cultural representatives, and members of the community, all celebrating the beginning of a project that will serve as a lasting symbol of Bahraini-French friendship and cooperation.
