The entire point of opening a second NIssan showroom in the north of the Island is not so much ploy to sell more cars, although by trade-off it surely will, one suspects the local culture has a lot to do with it as well. Spoiled rotten living on a small Island which is about twice the size of Barbados and considerably hotter, other humans who live in ‘big’ places roll their eyes and flick their heads on discovering that Bahrain residents can’t be arsed to go from one end to the other and we’re all in a hurry.
Hell, most wont even get out their cars at a convenience store (Cold Store colloquially) or take-away restaurant; merely blow their horns, whatever time of day or night and wait for the faithful server to quickly trot up and take orders. There are more little cheap Indian motor cycles in Bahrain than planets in our Milky Way, all running around, all fitted with little ‘keep warm’ boxes, off on food deliveries. From a litre of milk to a house not two doors down, to a ‘five star’ take-out delivered to the party 20 kilometres away.
Problem! The main Nissan dealer is in the South East of the Island and there is so much new and reclaimed development in the North, it is like half the population now live there (Not quite, but burgeoning). A 50cc mopehead ridden by a cavalier Bengali doesn’t really cut it when it comes to sticking a brand new Nissan in the cool box and having it delivered, otherwise, that would be the way to go. So YK Almoeyyed & Sons, led by Chairman Farouk Almoeyyed (Who is still very much at the helm) decided to bring Nissan to this new Suburbia (close to the airport). See the date of this post and look again in one year from now…….. Put your money on more dealers doing something similar, because to date, very few if any have.
