Diplomacy often speaks through meetings and agreements, but sometimes it speaks through something much simpler—a handshake, a shared table, and conversations between people who may come from different cultures yet share a common hope for peace and cooperation.
That spirit was reflected on Monday evening as the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted a reception at the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel to commemorate the 99th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The event was hosted by H.E. Mr. Ni Ruchi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and welcomed senior Bahraini officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the military, business leaders, members of the Chinese community, and invited guests from across Bahrain.
Guests were received in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect, where conversations extended beyond formal protocol to celebrate the growing partnership between Bahrain and China.
A Message of Peace and Cooperation
During his address, Ambassador Ni Ruchi reflected on the history of the People’s Liberation Army, established in 1927, and highlighted China’s vision of peaceful development, international cooperation, and support for global stability.
The Ambassador also emphasized China’s participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief operations, and international maritime security efforts. Throughout his speech, he reaffirmed China’s commitment to peaceful development while expressing optimism for stronger cooperation between China and Bahrain in the years ahead.
A significant part of the address focused on the continued strengthening of bilateral relations following His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s state visit to China in 2024, during which both countries elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Ambassador noted that cooperation between the armed forces of both nations has also expanded through increasing exchanges and practical collaboration.
Celebrating Friendship
Following the official ceremony, guests gathered to mark the occasion with a ceremonial cake cutting, symbolizing the anniversary celebration and the enduring friendship between the two nations.
The evening also provided an opportunity for diplomats, military representatives, community leaders, and friends of China to exchange ideas and strengthen personal and professional relationships in an atmosphere of hospitality.
Traditional Chinese hospitality, elegant surroundings, and warm conversations reminded everyone that diplomacy is not only conducted through official documents but also through the relationships built between people.
Bahrain and China: A Growing Partnership
Over the past several years, Bahrain and China have continued to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, infrastructure, education, technology, and cultural exchange. Events such as this annual reception serve not only to commemorate history but also to reinforce the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and international partnership.
As the evening concluded, guests departed with renewed appreciation for the longstanding friendship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China, and with hopes that the relationship will continue to flourish in the years ahead.
