Bangladeshi Art Exhibition in Bahrain Showcases 40 Contemporary Artworks

More than a display of paintings, the exhibition is a visual passage into the heart of Bangladesh — its landscapes, memories, traditions, people, and inner worlds. Through colour, form, texture, and emotion, the artworks invite visitors to experience the richness of a nation shaped by heritage, resilience, creativity, and a deep connection to both land and identity.

The initiative was conceived and led by H.E. Md. Rais Hasan Sarower, ndc, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, as part of the Embassy’s continued efforts to share Bangladesh’s cultural voice with the people of Bahrain and the wider diplomatic community.

A Cultural Journey Through Bangladesh’s Artistic Identity

The exhibition reflects the many layers of Bangladeshi artistic expression, moving between the intimate and the universal. Themes of identity, heritage, nature, society, and human experience emerge across the collection, offering viewers not only a glimpse of Bangladesh’s contemporary art scene, but also a deeper sense of the stories, emotions, and cultural memory carried within it.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Rais highlighted the power of art and culture to bring people and nations closer together. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and Bahrain for their support, and extended special thanks to H.E. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, and H.E. Farah Mohammed Mattar, Director-General of Culture and Museums at BACA, for their valuable partnership in making the exhibition possible.

The Ambassador noted that cultural diplomacy is not only about representation, but about connection — creating moments where people can meet beyond language, politics, and geography, through beauty, memory, and shared human experience.

Cultural Diplomacy Strengthens Bangladesh-Bahrain Ties

The opening ceremony was attended by around 300 guests, including ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, H.E. Mohamed Rashed Alsowaidi, Acting Chief of Asian and Pacific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Farah Mohammed Mattar, Mr. Fahad AbdulAziz Al Binali, LMRA Director of Partnership and Outreach, renowned Bahraini artist Mr. Abbas Almosawi, senior representatives of Bahrain’s government bodies, heads of international organisations, members of the cultural and artistic community, media representatives, and members of the Bangladeshi community.

Exhibition Open to the Public Until 17 June 2026

The exhibition marks an important milestone in the Embassy’s cultural outreach in Bahrain and stands as a celebration of friendship between Bangladesh and the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is also a reminder that art has the power to travel where words sometimes cannot — carrying with it the spirit of a people, the memory of a homeland, and the possibility of deeper understanding between nations.

From the Core to the Periphery: A Kaleidoscopic Journey will remain open to the public until 17 June 2026 at the Art Centre in Juffair. Visitors, art enthusiasts, and media representatives are invited to attend daily between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm.
